Sometimes you can get better results by hiring outside to do a task for you. All of the bookkeepers that I’ve hired for my company have been terrible. They started out fine, but after a short period of time, they had trouble keeping up with the work load and started making mistakes. Some of them even tried keeping false records, thinking that no one would notice. I got in touch with a company that has bookkeepers in Bristol, and paid for their services instead of hiring my own, and it was one of the best decisions that I’ve ever made for my business.
The use of an outside bookkeeper caused the productivity of my company to rise rapidly. Up to date records without any error in reporting or falsified information made it possible for the company to see exactly which areas were performing well and which ones needed improving. Much like with the other bookkeepers, I had to get rid of some employees that weren’t performing to the best of their abilities. I don’t like to fire people, but if they can’t do their job, then they have to go so I can find someone else who can do the job.
By the end of the fiscal year, the company is expected to see a profit. The company was in the red, and the year before that there was a profit, but it was substantially lower than the previous years. In the coming years, I might be able to give all of my employees a bonus if we have a large enough profit. It’s an idea I’ve been wanting to implement for a while, but the profits just weren’t big enough to ensure that everyone would get something substantial. When my employees do a good job, I feel that they should be rewarded.
